Review Sept and Oct Minutes
·         Navajo group meets Saturdays not Thursdays.

Motions
·         The Guild will keep 3% commission from the Art Market Sale for processing fees

·         Paykiss can check out a large frame loom for 3 months rent ($120) and a $260 deposit check.  We will hold the deposit check for 4 month or until the loom is returned in good condition.  If not returned by May, check will be cashed.  If returned before April, we will refund any rental fees not used.

Guild Groups / Projects / Classes
·         Rug Group / Show
o   Still no venue for rug show
o   May have rug class to generate interest

·         Classes / Workshops / Programs
o   Fall Beginning Weaving – 10/21/17 – 11/25/17  - 9:00 – 12p
§  12 people enrolled so we split into 2 group – AM and PM
o   Basket Weaving Oct 14, 21, 28 – 3 – 5p
§  Was a success, had fun, a few left to finish. 
§  Victoria to chair
§   a possible interest group in basket making.  We will revisit this in Jan
o   Quilt Museum Art Market  -  11/17/17  3-7,   11/18/17  10-4
§  40% to the Quilt Museum
§  No admission to the sale, please stop by
o   Kelly Church Basket Weaving Workshop at St Mary’s College – Spring 2018
§  College of St Mary’s did get the grant to fund this workshop.  We still need info, we are unsure of details and level of commitments.  Joan will contact for more info.
o   Midplains Fiber Fair – 5/15/18 – 5/16/18
§  Elaine contacted the organizer
§  5-10 min demo on a fiber related skill
·         Spinning, carding, felting, explain and show
§  Volunteers to help with general tasks
§  They are not aligning with any Guilds but will have a table with info for all Guilds
§  Fiber arts circle – informal demo area
§  Blending of several different fibers for a “fiber sandwich”
o   Robyn Spady – Cutting Loose with Tied Weaves – 9/15/18 – 9/16/18
§  All 8 harness looms must be freed up by August 1st 2018, notices will be posted on these looms.
§  Need to discuss next year’s schedule around this workshop, cost, recruiting from other guilds, etc.
§  Rough cost of the workshop is $2,100, if we get 15 people enrolled, est $140 ea
§  We are unsure of flight and lodging costs
§  We want to form a committee to discuss costs, publicity, promoting etc
·         Mary, Cindy, Joan and Linda  - Still looking for a Committee Chair

·         Demonstrations
o   Arbor Lodge – 10/28/17 times TBD
§  Was great, fun time, they were very nice.

Old Business
·         Repainting green floor – we will wait another year and repaint in 2019

New Business
·         A new Tapestry Study Group may be starting instead of a class due to the Robyn Spady workshop
·         When UNL got rid of the textile department we said we want them to come to us with fiber / weaving needs  -  Paykiss (UNL student) is doing a conceptual project.  He wants to weave 1 mile of yarn into a poncho due in April.  He wants to rent a frame loom.  Catherine will work with him on threading.
·         2018 Weavathon – Catherine will chair
o   The theme this year will be holiday weavings
o   Due to Robyn Spady Workshop we will begin in January
·         Phones – The main handset is not working properly, you can answer a call but not hear anything.  Mary will look into changing the batteries to see if that will help.

Announcements
·         Nov / Dec 2017 – Due to holidays meeting days will change as follows
o   Spinning group will be meeting 1st and 2nd Thurs 5 – 7:30ish
o   Navajo group will be meeting 1st and 2nd Sat 9 – 10ish
·         Officer Positions open next year – election will be held at the Dec meeting
·         Omaha Weaver and Spinners Guild Annual Sale is next Sat  11/18/17 – 9a – 4p
o   Westside Community Conference Center – 3534 S 108th St, Omaha NE
·         Programs
o   12/9/17 – Holiday party / potluck
